In this section, I look at the concepts and processes that an organization must implement to respond to phishing. After a phishing incident has been discovered through various means, such as the monitoring of bounced messages, a domain registry change, or DNS redirect, quick, decisive steps must be taken to stop the attack and fix the damage. Phishing remediation entails three main steps: 1. Locate the address(es) of the servers hosting the redirects. 2. Find out who s responsible for them. 3. Get them to stop serving the sites; take them down.
